Dactylioceras ammonite shell fossil multi-block found near Whitby, North Yorkshire on the Jurassic Coast

 

Generally rounded whorl section. Strong ribbing, moderately dense.  Ribs run straight or slightly bent forward across the top (venter).

Maximum size ~11cm, average size ~7cm.

 

Largest ammonite size: 7.7cm 

 

Age (lithology): Upper Lias; Toarcian; Bifrons zone; Commune subzone.

 

Distribution: Staithes, Port Mulgrave, Runswick, Kettleness, Sandsend, Hawsker, Ravenscar.

 

Occurrence: Abundant
