Guided Fossil Walks
Being able to share our fossil adventures with others is something we really enjoy. All our knowledge is that which we have gathered while fossil hunting on the beach with my family and divulging in fossil handbooks as a serious hobby.
The fossil hunt will take place at a location and day of your choice. The locations we are offering are: Runswick Bay, Port Mulgrave or Sandsend but if you are hoping to visit another location we will be happy to discuss in further detail. Each hunt entails a 3-4 hour adventure, whereby we will show you what to look for and hopefully find some cool fossils together! Our hunts are a set price of £200 per hunt for up to 6 people, additional group members can be added for £20 per person (We only offer private tours and so only your selected party will be in the group). We will lend you the tools if needed, as well as rucksacks. Any fossils we find will be opened up on the beach (if possible) and we’ll show you how to do this. If needed, we will take them home and prepare them for you at a very competitive rate and post them to your home! Sometimes, the beach can bear very few fossils, whilst other days there are lots. Either way, we will ensure that each person has an ammonite or an ammonite within a nodule to take home (these will be from our personal ammonite reserve) along with our own fossil information sheets about fossils from our coast!
Safety is of the upmost importance when on fossil hunts, we will lend safety glasses and ask you to ensure that you wear strong grippy walking boots. The coast can be slippy and there is always the chance of a fall, so whilst all precautions will be made to avoid slippy areas we can’t accept any liability for personal injury or loss. As the cliffs are very unstable we will be keeping a safe distance away from them. Going near to the cliffs is something we strongly recommend against. Please bring sensible footwear, not trainers! Grippy wellies or hiking boots are best and you may want to bring spare footwear and socks for afterwards. Also please wear appropriate clothing for the weather. This trip can be strenuous, therefore it may not be accessible for extremely elderly people, people with heart difficulties, people with walking difficulties, very young babies, and not suitable for prams/buggies due to the terrain.
